I thank God that I was raised in a creative household where music and art were a part of our daily lives. This gift has been a 'north star' throughout my life, serving as both a haven and a portal to endless exploration.

After an early career in the graphic arts I returned to school and, in 2009, earned my BFA in drawing and painting with a focus on classical portraiture. I soon found myself at odds with these modalities that value accuracy, technique, and 'finish'  and so began to persue abstraction and 'art as a spiritual practice'.  It is now my personal quest as an artist to recognize when I have achieved the feeling of a person or place and then step away and let it be.

In regards to my most current work, I'm attempting to capture the feeling of my favorite realm, the underwater world. I have been fascinated with the ocean and its depths since I was a very young child - sailing stories, shipwrecks, sunken treasure, mermaids, strange fishes, corals, and sponges. 'The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau' was the best thing on television.

After nearly 40 years of diving exploration I am thrilled to finally begin to depict in paint the underwater world as I experience it, dreamy, colorful, mysterious, colorful, abundant, and vast.
